Entomology
The Agricultural Entomology Section, established in 1982 to serve the sugar industry in general and sugarcane plant protection in particular. The Section is engaged in research aspects like sugarcane pest management, screening of sugarcane genotypes for resistance against major pests, a survey of natural enemies of sugarcane pests. This section also takes care of the mass multiplication of potential bio-control agents and their supply to sugarcane growers for effective and timely management of pests. This section works on Research, Training, Education, Extension and Development to increase the sugarcane yield and sugar recovery.
