1) Collection of latest technical information on sugarcane cultivation at global, national and state level.
2) Increase in the average yield of sugarcane and sugar of Maharashtra State by applying acquired advanced technologies of sugarcane agronomy at farmers field.
The scientists conducts training cum refresher programs that includes all aspects of sugarcane cultivation and production including Plant Breeding, Tissue Culture, Agronomy, Soil Science, Irrigation Water Management, Agriculture Microbiology, Pathology and Entomology. The scientists of Agriculture Science and Technology Division specially prepared training manual for the programme.
National level training programme on Advanced techniques in sugarcane planting,Ratoon Management in Sugarcane under Solideridad, ATMA New Delhi was conducted at Vasantdada Sugar Institute, Manjari (Bk.), Pune (Maharashtra).
Master trainers viz., subject matter specialists, officers from state department of agriculture, scientists from agriculture universities, ICAR scientists, agriculture officers from sugar factories from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Goa were trained. The training was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Shivajirao Deshmukh, Director General, VSI and Mr. V. V. Deshmukh, Director, Agril Sci. & Tech. Div. All the participants were very much impressed and satisfied with the training.
