National Environmental Awareness Campaign
The department actively participates in the National Environmental Awareness Campaign (NEAC) of the Ministry of Environment and Forests, New Delhi since 2010. School children are the best medium to spread environmental awareness and thus the department usually selects a school in some rural area near Pune for this work. The students of the department are also involved in this activity which gives them an opportunity to use their knowledge and also gain exposure.......
1) NEAC 2009-10- Preparation of Biodiversity Register at Janata Vidyalaya, Pimpri Sandas village.
2) NEAC 2010-11- At Markal village.
3) NEAC 2011-12- Organization of slide shows, lectures, nature trails and establishment of seed nursery for forest plants at Yadavwadi village.
4) NEAC 2012-13- Organization of a poster exhibition on biodiversity conservation, nature trails and preparation of biodiversity register at Sakurde Village, Near Jejuri Photos.
5) NEAC 2013-14- Organization of Poster exhibition, slide shows and essay competition on biodiversity conservation, and establishment of seed nursery and shade-net for forest plants at Yadavwadi village......
The students of the department work during the Ganesh festival every year for creating awareness about the pollution caused by disposal of Nirmalya into rivers and canals.
